SSC multitasking useful information

Age: age should be between 18 to 25 years for general candidates. Age relaxations are as per center govt. job rules.

EQ: minimum qualification is metric pass. No limit in percentage  of marks.

Exam pattern and selection process:
There will be two papers. Paper one will be of qualifying nature means shortlisted candidates in paper 1 will have to appear for paper 2. Merit list will be based on marks obtained in paper 2 only. There is no interview.

Paper 1 (duration 2 hours):
General Intelligence & Reasoning: 25 marks.
Numerical Aptitude: 25 marks.
General English: 25 marks.
General Awareness: 50 marks.
Cut off: cut off in paper 1 is calculated for each state separately. Generally cut off lies somewhere between 70 to 90 marks for general candidates.

Paper 2 (duration 30 minutes ):
Short Essay / Letter in English or Hindi or any other language: 50 marks.

Options for engineering graduates in Teaching

If you are in Engineering and want to pursue career in teaching its suggested that you go for M.Tech or PhD.
After PhD: you can apply for Asst. Professor posts in govt. colleges or universities. It does not require any experience.
After M.Tech: after M.Tech you go for National Eligibly Test (NET) conducted by CBSE/ UGC or CSIR NET. Once qualified you will be eligible for Asst. Professor in colleges and universities. This is equivalent to PhD.
After B.Tech: B.Tech graduates are eligible for school lecturer posts. You have to clear teachers eligibility test e.g. CTET for central school and HTET for Haryana. Few state such as Uttar Pradesh require B.Ed. instead of STET.

B.Tech graduates are also eligible for school teachers called TGTs but mostly limited to cCmputer Science as other engineering subjects are generally not taught in schools. For TGTs also you have to clear STET or CTET for TGTs.

Difference between CSIR UGC NET and CBSE UGC NET

CSIR UGC NET is conducted by CSIR and UGC collectively. It is conducted for Science subjects only which include:
Chemical sciences,
Physical sciences,
Life sciences,
Mathematical sciences,
Earch, autosphere, planatery, ocean sciences.
Apart from PG candidates, graduates can also apply from certain streams such as B.Tech and Integrated BS-MS candidates.
On the other hand CBSE UGC NET can be taken by PG candidates only and it is conducted in wide range of subjects you can say all other subjects not part of CSIR UGC NET.

Note: though graduates can take CSIR UGC NET but they have to get PG degree to become a lecturer/ asst professor.

Useful Information - SSB Interview

SSB stands for Service Selection Board. This is the term used for 5 day interview held for the post of officers in all three wings of military.

SSB consists of: Day 1: Basic Intelligence Test Day 2: Psychological Test Day 3 & Day 4: The Group Testing Officers (GTO) Activities Day 5: Conference First day: On the first day of the schedule, basic intelligence and verbal and non-verbal reasoning skills are evaluated. You are asked to see a picture of thirty seconds duration and describe it in a story form.

Later, group discussions are held in batches to select the most suitable story. To do well in this section, go through the last few years question papers to get an idea. Solve papers of different aptitude tests. Get involved in GDs and debates whenever you get time.

These will improve your verbal and non-verbal skills. hings to keep in mind for the GD session: Do not look at the officers while narrating your story and just after completing it. Proper body language should be maintained. Do not argue in the GD; allow others to speak, including the weaker ones. Wait for the right time to put in the strong points of the story that you have written. Try to be actively present in the discussion so that the officers notice you. Second Day:

The second day is considered very important. Thematic Appreciation Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT) and Self Description are undertaken, all of which are part of psychological process. These are all general psychology tests that demand your extensive attention and concentration. Self-description: Prepare for it beforehand. The psychologists usually look for your: Ability to self analyze Aim in life and determination Thinking and mentality regarding parents, family, friends, neighbours, teachers and others. Perception of how your parents, family, friends, neighbours, teachers and others analyse you.

Preparations for next two days: The Group Testing Officers (GTO) activities conducted on the third and fourth days include various indoor and outdoor group activities like Group Discussion, Group Obstacle Race, Group Planning and Progressive Group Tasks. The individual tasks consist of Individual Lecturette, Individual Obstacles and Command Tasks. These tests are conducted to evaluate you as a team player in various situations as also as an individual.

It also assesses your leadership qualities and the way you express yourself. Perform all the tasks in a calm and composed manner. Personal interview: The officers can take your Personal Interview (PI) on any day between second to fourth days, so be mentally prepared for it. Fifth day: The fifth day generally comprises closing address by the boards Deputy President, conference and announcement of results, followed by dispersal. Personality development: For SSB, it is not important that you should be a highly intelligent person but should be strong, mature and posses a well-developed personality. Keep fit: It is essential to keep fit so that you can conduct all the physical activities with ease. A good heath will also help you to get a clearance in the medical tests.

Candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute.

Mode of examination: Written Test, followed by an interview. Interview only for candidates who clear the written test. Time duration of the exam: 2 hours Number of questions: 200 questions (objective) Negative marking: Yes - .25 for every wrong answer Usually candidates getting 160+ marks clear the written.

Written Test syllabus: General Awareness This section will be for 40 marks. Roughly about 40 percent of the questions will revolve around banking and financial industry, and 60 percent will be on Current Affairs, covering topics like politics, economy, sports, art, awards, etc.

Quantitative Aptitude Quantitative Aptitude will have 40 questions and cover topics like profit and loss, time and distance, number system, data interpretation, number series, etc Reasoning Reasoning will also be for 40 marks and will cover number series, blood relation, mirror images, time series, etc.

English English is for 40 marks and includes comprehension, grammar, spotting errors in sentences, fill in the blanks, improving sentences, etc.

How to score well Computer Awareness For this section, you need basic knowledge about computers. Usually people score good marks in this section. To prepare for this section, refer to basic computer books, keep yourself abreast with MS Office.


NDA - Useful Information

Join Army, Navy or Air Force as commissioned officer (Lieutenant and its equivalent) through National Defence Academy exam. You can take NDA exam twice in a year. Vacancies are announced generally in January and May.

 Age requirement: Minimum 16.5 years, maximum 19 years as on first day of the month the course is due to begin. Course begins almost after a year of advertisement of the variances.

 Educational qualification: 12th pass for Army. 2th pass with Physics and Mathematics for Navy and Air Force. Appearing in 12th exam can also apply. Marital status: Unmarried Exam held in the month of: The exam is conducted twice a year - every six months usually in April and August Mode of examination: Written test followed by an Intelligence and Personality test. there is negative marking in written test.

NDA Written exam: The Written exam consists of two sections: Mathematics for 300 marks and General Ability for 600 marks. Each paper is for 2 to 2.30 hours. All the questions will be objective in nature and will be available in Hindi and English. Intelligence and Personality Test (called SSB): This test evaluates the personality, intelligence and mental aptitude of the candidate.

The test includes group discussions, team work, psychological testing, followed by a medical test. Preparing for the NDA exam NDA Written test: The written test comprises two papers Mathematics and General Ability.

Preparing for Paper 1: Mathematics This test will cover topics like Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, Trigonometry, Algebra, Vector Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Analytical Geometry, Statistics & Probability. Make sure your Maths concepts are clear.

Preparing for Paper 2: General Ability General Ability is further divided into: Part A: English The English test is for 200 marks and covers topics like vocabulary, grammar and usage and comprehension. This test evaluates the basic command a person has on the language. Part B: General Knowledge (GK) The GK test is for 400 marks and will check a candidates general understanding and his insight into the Current Affairs within the country and outside. The test will comprise six sections: General Science, Indian history, Physics, Geography, Chemistry and Current Events. To prepare for this test, follow the news updates regularly, be aware of the latest happenings in the field of sports, arts, literature, and the like. Read about the current economic scenario in the country, the recent and past policy changes and such other topics that are directly related to India and its neighbouring countries.

Preparing for Intelligence and Personality test For this test, concentrate on developing your personality. The test usually assesses the candidates for officer-like qualities, which includes sense of responsibility, reacting to situations, social adaptability, team work, etc. To prepare for this test, you can start practicing psychological tests that enable you to know yourself. How to become Assistant Commandants in Paramilitary Forces. Central Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination. Also called CPF (AC) for CISF, CRPF, SSB, BSF and ITBP. As Regular officers in Indian Army. 32 vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders for every cource, ie… 64 seats each year irrepective of merit in SSB. As Short Service Commissioned Officers in the Indian Army. NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders are exempted from appearing in written Examination (UPSC exam). 50 vacancies are reserved in each course ie… 100 seats for each year. As Regular Officers in Indian Navy. Six vacancies are reserved in each course ie… 12 seats per year for NCC ‘C’ Certificate(Naval Wing) holders. They must have passed BSc(Physics and Maths) or BE, are 19 to 24 years of age and are deemed fit to undergo training in Naval Academy, Goa by the Services Selection Board (SSB). Such candidates are exempted from appearing in the CDS Examination conducted by UPSC. As Regular Officers in Indian Air Force. 10% of all available seats are reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Air Wing) holders including Pilot courses. They need NOT appear for UPSC Exam. Indian Army Benefits TO NCC Certificate Holders Five percent of marks are added to NCC ‘A’ Certificate holders on overall marks scored by the candidate in Physical and written Examination. Similarly Eight percent marks are added to ‘B’ Certificate holders. These are applicable for Soldier (GD), Tech, Clerk, SKT and Nursing Assistant categories.
